What's nice :
♥ Very light product.
♥ Natural look.
♥ Moisturizing.
♥ Sun protection, (SPF/FPS 15).
♥ Pleasant perfumed scent.
♥ Small price.
What's bad :
♠ Product that seems a bit shiny, (nothing very noticeable though).
♠ Impossible to know how much product will come out when you push the tube.
♠ Presence of Octyl methoxycinnamate. (1)
♠ Presence of Titanium dioxide. (2)
♠ Presence of Disodium EDTA. (3)
(1) "The derivative of cinnamic acid (more precisely it is the methoxycinnamic acid ester and 2-ethyl-hexanol).
Blocks UVB, but not photostable.
This substance is a recognized strong allergenic potential allergen.
It would also be an endocrine disruptor (oestogénique)."

(2) "Titanium dioxide, a pigment used in the composition of many everyday products, such as sunscreens or toothpaste, have the same toxic effects as asbestos.

With titanium dioxide, we find ourselves in the same situation with asbestos there 40 years, "says Professor Jürg Tschopp, Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine in 2008, which led a Franco-Swiss study toxic effects of this nanomaterial. [...] In vivo and in vitro tests in mice, and in vitro on human cells, show that the titanium dioxide, in nanometric form (particle size of one million times smaller than a human hair), a pro-activity inflammatory lung and in the peritoneum. From which possible carcinogenic effect. As asbestos and silica, two well-known environmental irritants. [...]
[...]
The nanomaterial can be absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, skin or respiratory irritation. Today, we still lack data on the absorption of titanium dioxide via the diet or skin. If the risk of penetration is not excluded on the surface of intact skin (burns or atopic skin), inhalation ingestion is much concern, especially for staff nanotechnology industries. »
(3) "[...] EDTA and its substitute (Editronic Acid) are fixed in the body and are not easily biodegradable. This is explained by the interaction between EDTA and heavy metals, substances hydrogenating function or micronutrients. [...] EDTA is recognizable in the INCI declaration letters EDTA, usually combined with another word, such as Tetrasodium EDTA. [...]"

My opinion :
I really liked this BB Cream for its really natural look - you barely can say that you put a coloured cream. However, I'd like to insist on the fact that the coverage its main purpose, (it is not a foundation !), so if you have some imperfections to hide, you can use a concealer before and after you put the BB Cream. But if what you are really looking for is coverage, then it's better to keep using a foundation.
The Coloured Beauty Balm Kiko seems to refine skin texture, to unify it, rather than hiding it. We also appreciate its moisturizing aspect, (careful however, it can not replace your moisturizing cream as a base !), and its sun protection, (SPF/FPS 15).
The scent is nice and the texture melts on the skin. But it leaves a bit of a shiny aspect, even so it's not that noticeable.
I regret a lot the titanium dioxide and EDTA's presence, even so they are in the end of the composant list, which means that there is just a bit of it. The titanium dioxide bothers me particularly.
Detailed description :
« BB Cream Coloured Beauty Balm SPF 15
Foundation-treatment with moisturizing active ingredients and a medium sun protection factor.
| BB Cream / Couloured Beauty Balm, KIKO, (Image's credits : personal photo') |
A "transforming" emulsion that amazes on the first touch: white like a cream, it contains special micro-encapsulated pigments that chromatically react upon application to assume the natural skin tone. The motion made during its application causes the "rupture" of the pigments' coating, revealing a shade of foundation that is able to adapt perfectly to the specific tone of each complexion.
The fusion with the skin is absolute: once applied, the soft and evanescent texture of BB Cream SPF 15 becomes like a second skin, giving light coverage and a healthy and natural glow. The soft-focus effect allows light to be diffused naturally all over the face, hiding blemishes and signs of fatigue.
Thanks to the innovative complex, K2 energy-release, BB Cream SPF 15 takes care of the skin like a real treatment: the active ingredients counteract the loss of moisture and at the same time fight the damage caused to your skin by pollution, strengthening its resistance to environmental stress.
Practical and comfortable to apply, BB Cream SPF 15 is also enriched with sunscreens to protect facial skin from photo-aging.
Available in 5 shades to adapt to all complexions, from the fairest to the darkest.
Hypoallergenic product = formulated to ensure minimum instance of allergic reactions.
Non comedogenic.
Paraben free.
Suggestions : In order to ensure the proper performance and an even colour, apply the product on the face and neck, massaging until perfectly blended with the complexion.
The product changes from white to a perfect match with your skin tone during application.
