Goodmorning everyone ! I hope that you are having a beautiful day. In any case, I am delighted to present you today this new article especially because you will probably like it !
Indeed, today I will present you a perfume webshop with unbeatable prices ... but that also reproducts the scents of brands perfumes !
This feat is possible thanks to the French brand So Perfum*, born in april 2012 : a compagny based in the North of France, in Roubaix, which first started with a boutique. The success was immediate and people from other districts have asked for a website in order to buy from anywhere in France.
*For now the English website is under construction. Please be patient before you can use it, but you will certainly be able to command on the French one without much problem, I'm sure ! If you have any problem, please feel free to come to me !
◘ Perfume's copies, isn't it counterfeit ?
I'll put you at ease immediatly : no, it is nothing illegal. French jurisdiction certainly has some disagreement, (link to a French article), but concerning the Cour of Cassation, a fragrance being not considered as a "work", (a production from one's spirit, that only this person can own), it can not be protected by author's rights. As long as our justice will consider that a perfume is the result of a savoir-faire (an artisanal knowledge) and not the creation of an "oeuvre", its reproduction (made from a savoir-faire) is not considerate as illegal.
In order to know more about it, you can read the article posted on So Perfum's site's blog, (the link leads to the French article though.)
In order for it to be counterfeit, one would have to sell a perfume as being the one of the brand. For example, if I make my own fragrance by copying the one of a perfume X and by reproducing the packaging, writing X as the brand and selling it as being from this brand, then yes, this is counterfeit.
◘ Yet, we can find the brand's and perfume's names on the website ?
Be careful about making the difference between selling a product while pretending that it is the one from another brand, and selling a product while comparing it to the one of another brand. We talk in that second case about comparative advertising, (link to an English Wikipedia page, about American comparative advertising), which is a legal practice under some conditions. The soda brands Pepsi and Coca-Cola oftenly do that.
The website So Perfum uses comparing advertising in order to help you choose the fragrance you want, since you don't have samples to test. Moreover, they precede the fragrance's names with the sentence : "Competitor fragrance composed of the same main ingredients", (link to the French website). And that is So Perfum's secret : some perfumers are able to reproduce fragrances thanks to the ingredients list.
◘ Can I be sure that the scent will be the same as the brand's fragrance ?
For you to know if you will be satisfied, I invite you to try to find reviews on the fragrance you want to buy. Concerning the comments posted on the site, I'm a bit sceptical because of the fact that the comments have to be approved by the site before being published. It is a good thing to avoid insults and other inconvenient advertisings, but is that all ? If a negative comment is posted, will it be deleted ? I can not answer that question but I would rather be careful and search other sources of comments in order to get an idea before ordering.
In my case, I bought the perfume Darky which belongs to the same olfactory family as Insolence of Guerlain which I had already bought. Moreover, I kept Guerlain's bottle, (which I like), and the scent is still present on the spray ... scent that corresponds perfectly to the So Perfum's one ! I have to admit that I was quite amazed, it's really similar !
◘ But is the quality worth the brand's one ?
There are two things that you will frequently find in the perfumes' comments, (on the site or somewhere else) : firstly, that So Perfum's perfume is a bit stronger than the original one, and then, that it lasts way longer !
Concerning Darky, I agree to say that it is even stronger than Insolence, (which is already a strong scent). However, it is in no way bothersome, since no matter which one it is, you need to put only a bit of it : in other words, since it is stronger, you smell it perfectly fine with only two pshits.
About the way the scent lasts, it's amazing ! Not only does it last all day long, but until the next day too ! And even more : I offered it to my mom who puts her perfume in her hair, (to avoid the alcohol's marks on the skin that may appear with the sun), and I can tell you that even after she washed her hair, I could still smell the fragrances.
I also offered the perfume Source to my dad, the copy of Eau Sauvage of Dior. To be honest, I do not know how Eau Sauvage smells like, (it's my mom who recommended me this one), so I would be totally not able to tell you if Source is similar or not. In any case it smells really nice, and the last is as good.
There are perfumers who work for So Perfum, so the fragrances are realised in the savoir-faire's respect, they are indeed products of quality. And French on top of that !
◘ What about the prices ?
At So Perfum all perfumes exist in 53 ml and in 105 ml, (except for children's fragrances which only exist in 53 ml).
Darky is an eau de parfum sold :
♣ 22,90 euros the 53 ml
♣ 32,90 euros the 105 ml.
At Sephora, the eau de parfum Insolence costs :
♦ 59,50 euros the 30 ml
♦ 83,50 euros the 50 ml
♦ 117,90 euros the 100 ml.
Source is an eau de toilette sold :
♣ 17,90 euros the 53 ml
♣ 26,90 euros the 105 ml.
At Sephora, the eau de toilette Eau Sauvage costs :
♦ 58,50 euros the 50 ml
♦ 78,50 euros (the bottle) of 100 ml
♦ 83,90 euros (the spray bottle, like at So Perfum) of 100 ml
♦ 125 euros the 200 ml
So I let you judge !
◘ Why are the fragrances cheaper at So Perfum ?
First of all because the website does not count on the packaging but exclusively on the fragrance itself. Indeed, there are differences between the bottles on only two scales :
- the bottle of 53 ml is different from the one of 105 ml
- women perfumes have a gold cap*, while men's ones have a silver one.
*It wasn't the case in my order because they were out of stock of golden caps, that's why Darky has a silver one. However I appreciated the brand's professionalism who thought to mention it on the site before selling and once again on the bill.
So yes, So Perfum's bottle with its tag looks a bit cheap, but creating a bottle per perfume, and a special one, it obviously makes the price increase. Having a basical bottle and the same one by product's quantity, it's saved money on your bill !
On the other hand, I find the black box very design and classy !
And more importantly, it's less focused on the design, but the fragrance's quality however, is really worked on, and that, has to be what matters !
Then, of course, you don't pay the, (enormous), brand's financial margin.
◘ What about the shipping cost ?
So Perfum applies La Poste Colissimo suivi's prices, plus the conditioning, (bubble paper, etc.).
The prices change depending on if you order a 53 or a 105 ml bottle and also depending on the number of bottles you order. The first price is 6,90 euros for one or two bottle(s) of 53 ml, or for one of 105 ml.

WARNING ! So Perfum explains that the bottles of 53 ml are more resistant than the ones of 105 ml that break more easily during the shipping. Verify the state of your package before you open it, because So Perfum does not take responsability on the state of your package due to the shipping :
"The repayment, or exchange of a fragrance, will not be accepted in case of its deterioration during shipping, the Buyer has to make sure that the packaging holding the perfume is capable to preserve it of any external deterioration linked to the ship."

In my case, I bought two bottles of 53 ml and they arrived in perfect state. They were cases of broken bottles of 105 ml, if your package smells like perfume : do not open it and contact So Perfum, with pictures as proof ! Most of the time they send you back another bottle, (in the limit of available stocks), or another fragrance of same price, or they repay you.

Here it is, you know everything on this fragrance's webshop, that I tested and approved of ! It is an excellent alternative for people who don't have much money, or who just don't want to spend ton of money into perfumes.
Obviously, we still appreciate to offer or to offer ourself a brand perfume, even more if like me, you like to collect beautiful bottles, but you can for example buy the brand fragrance for Christmas or for a/your birthday, and turn to So Perfum for the rest of the year, (which allows you to keep quite some money !).
Another big good point in my eyes : by ordering on this website, you give work to a French industry, which keeps going the French savoir-faire, and that, has no price. (For anything else, there is ... a credit card full of money in order to get oftenly your perfumes somewhere else !).
