Hi lil' wolves(1) ! How are you ? Today I'm back with an article on the palette Light Colors from Réserve Naturelle which I briefly presented you on my haul of the brand.
(1) "Salut les p'tits loups" is a cute way to call people in French, (not used that much though), but I bet it just seems weird in English, but oh well !

On one hand we have the one that doesn't need to be presented anymore : the Naked 2 from Urban Decay is definitely part of the must have palettes for a lot of beauty addicts. Some nudes/pinkish tons, some browns, some coppery very bright that a lot of people want.
However, if the Naked 2 looks us in the eyes with puppy-dog eyes, it is really less cool with our wallet : $54.00 on both the Urban Decay's e-shop and Sephora, it's really not meant to please us.

On the other hand we have the Light Colors from Réserve Naturelle. Some golden browns, glittery or satin-like.
By comparing my palette to the Urban Decay one, I think that we can say that the two are alike, but I think they are a bit different. But the difference is more on the eyeshadows under tones. There are more tons in the Naked 2 I think, some shadows are really coppery when others are more pinkish.
But the Light Colors's price, is reaaally different : 14€95 ($ 20,33) !
(For the record, you can order from France, Corsica, Dom-Tom, European Union, USA and Canada.)
Here are some swatchs for you to compare them :
Since I don't have the Naked 2 I picked a picture on Google Images so you can compare the swatchs. It's from the blog Think of all the Beauty, which wrote an article on the palette Naked 2, (blog in English).
Don't forget to click on the photos to see them better. You also have more photo of the Light Colors at the end of the article. :)

The colors of the Light Colors are pretty and the pigmentation, if it's not the best on the market, is really good. Of course there's no doubt that the eyeshadows' quality of the Urban Decay ones must be better than the Réserve Naturelle ones, but I would not be able to tell you more since I haven't tested the Urban Decay's, (yes, I know, shame on me, but I'm a beginner in eye's make-up, haha ! Yet, there are big risks for my wallet that I fall for the Naked 3, but that's another story !). What we can still notice on the swatchs, is that the Naked 2 has visibly more pigmented eyeshadows, they're more vivid than the Light Colors ones which in comparison seem less vivid ... lighter in fact ! Some of them, (the lighter), had to be swatched some more in order to see them clearly.
The eyeshadows last pretty well - I tested them without primer, they didn't "melt" or go into the skin's fold. They didn't fall either on my cheeks.
Obviously, with primer, (the Shadow Insurance from Too Faced, sold $20 at Sephora), the shadow is fixed and doesn't move anymore.
A little bad point would be the fact that the shadows are very powdery, which makes them do some little pieces, that may fall from the brush to your face when you take it. The shadows are easier to work with wet.
A little regret for me : the absence of names. I think it's cool to be able to identify a shadow by a name like with the Urban Decay palettes, but well, it's not that bad !
♣ Packaging :
| Palette Light Colors, Réserve Naturelle, (Image's credits : personal photo under author's rights) |
It's a carton box closing with magnets. The design is uncluttered : a pinkish white on which is a beige flower on the left. I like it very much, it's simple but pretty. Only bad point : since it's clear, and in carton, the box can easily get dirty.
Other little bother : when you get it, it's closed on the sides with some adhesive tape, and when you take it off, it's likely to rip the paper apart. The mirror is really tiny and not ideal to do your make up, but anyway, most of the time we don't use it, so it's no big deal.
♣ Brush :

The brush has two parts. If I don't like the foam one, (no matter the brand, I don't use foam brushes on my eyes, I don't like it personally), I find the part with bristles nice. Very flat and smooth, it puts on perfectly the shadows, is useful to get to the inner V and spread well the make up. It's truly a brush that you can use.
♣ Good to know :
• This is not mentioned on the site but the palette is made in China.
• After checking the ingredients on the internet, I didn't find anything worrisome. Okay, some of them may get you some allergies or spots, but not specifically, (it'll change from a person to the other). There is methylparaben and propylparaben, but they are in the end of the list. There is also presence of silicone, which suffocates and dries up the skin, but here again, you'll find it in many cosmetics.
I would say that dry and atopic skins are the ones that have to be the most careful with it, because the shadows tend to dry up the skin, personally I can feel that wearing them isn't doing any good to my lil' eyes, but if you take care of your eyelid's skin, everything's will be alright, donc ne vous inquiétez pas(2) ! ;)
Since you won't wear the shadows all the time, there is nothing to worry about. Don't forget to moisturize your skin with good products, (preferably organics), in order to help it bear with the chimical products' agressions, you'll avoid the little spots and other dry skin. ;-)
(2) donc ne vous inquiétez pas ! = so don't worry !
Scent :
The shadows have a not too bad scent, but very chimical. But don't worry : you won't smell it again once applied on your eyelid.
And now let's analize the shadows in details (click on the pictures to see them better) :

• 1st shadow : a matte yellow very very pale, that I rarely use, more as a base to unify and make a coppery color look better.
• 2nd shadow : a golden copper very light and bright.
• 3rd shadow : a pearly white very pale.
• 4th shadow : still a golden copper but darker than the one before.

To sum it up :
I think that the Light Colors is a really good alternative to the Naked 2, (even so obviously, it will never be the perfect dupe of the Urban Decay). But Naked 2 or not, the palette itself is beautiful, with a nice quality, and it allows the little budgets, the beginners who want to buy their first palettes and try eyes make up without getting broke up right away, or to the persons who just don't want to put 54 dollars into a palette, (which is perfectly understandable), to have a nice palette, pretty, to enjoy. And that, is the most important ! :)
