Revlon has launched its new category of lipsticks : the Ultra HD. And obviously, I couldn't resist the urge to try it !

• First, what are the promises of this new category ?

◘ The pigmenetassiône :
About the pigmentation, I wouldn't say that it's crazily unbelievable. It is correct, but I don't think it's obvious from the first application. The gel formula, which replaces the wax, has this "balm" side, slippery, which kind of prevents the pigments from staying on the skin, especially on the lips.
This being said, by putting on many layers, we do get a good color quite quickly.
To sum it up, the pigmentation is great, perfectly okay, but still, I personally wasn't amazed.
◘ The gel formula, how is it ?
The gel formula slips indeed on the lips, so the application is pleasant since it doesn't "grip" on the skin. But the lipstick slips almost too much ... There is - mainly at the begining of its use, from what I noticed - a result like you "apply a balm" more than a color. As if we moisturized our lips and it then prevented the pigments from staying on the lips. It's just a bit frustrating at first, when we have the impression of putting a balm on our lips rather than a lipstick, but I get the feeling that the more you use it and the more you get the color. (If that makes any sense ...)
Being used to matte lipsticks which grip on the lips, I almost "slipped" using this one. I would say that you should not apply it quickly, by fear of exceeding your lips, but thanks to that the application is very very pleasant. The use of a lip pencil would be welcome. But it asks to find the right shade !
◘ The comfort :
About comfort, it is nice to wear. It doesn't stick when you talk, however you feel it on your lips at first, (you get used to it and forget it quite fast), and be careful that your hair doesn't get on your lips because it will stick like a gloss ! But unlike some glosses, it does not burn your lips.
◘ The result :
Its glossy aspect, very shiny, gives dimension to the lips. Those who are looking for a lipstick that gives a pumpling effect will probably be seduced by this category. Note that there is no glitter, the shine aspect of the lipstick is the one of a lacquer, glossy, with a mirror effect.
◘ The scent/the taste :
THE thing we need to talk about, is its perfume. Be it olfactive or gustative ! First, when you smell the lipstick, (yes, because I'm someone who smells her lipsticks, it's like that, but I know I'm not the only one !), it has this delicious scent of vanilla. It's soft, it's sweet, it's gourmand as one pleases ! (I should work in the ads' slogans' industry, don't you think ?) And then, once applied on the lips, when we swallow it - as we always do while wearing a lipstick - we are pleasantly surprised by a taste of mango with a touch of vanilla. Nothing too obviously chimical by the way, which surprised me.
Be careful though if you have a sensitive nose, which could maybe feel overwhelmed by the very suavely sweet side of the scent ? (Yes, by reading it again, you can find a sense to this sentence, I assure you. No ? Ah. Well. Nevermind ! In clear : if you mind the sweet scents, smell it in the shop before buying it, by fear of spending an unpleasant moment while putting your makeup on !)
○ Lips that peel, be careful ! This lipstick tends to mark the chapped lips, so a lip scrub before application is greatly advised ! BUT it does not mark the lips' wrinckles ! And that, is cool !
○ Something that bothers me a little with this lipstick, and which I think is because of the gel formula, is that the color is not always even. You have to spend some time applying it to make sure that the color won't make some "stain" in places of your lips.
○ About its longevity ... Well, let's face the truth : the lil' one doesn't last long. No, very seriously, it doesn't last more than two hours and a half to three hours. However, it has the GREAT advantage to shade off beautifully, and not by leaving your lips all dirty-dirty.
○ About the packaging, it is very simple but cute I think. What you need to know is that when you retract the lipstick, you have to go all the way, until you hear a tiny "clic !" because the cap comes really, really, REALLY close to the stick ! So if you don't want to damage it, be careful to retract it to the maximum.
○ Talking about the stick, it has a round shape but at an angle. I tend to prefer pointed sticks, but because it is at an angle, you still manage to use it well.
• A comment specific to the Snapdragon ?
The color is very pretty, between a coffee brown and a camel. Or else I could say that I love the name of the lipstick, but I fear that it wouldn't interest a lot of people ?

$8,99 at Walgreens AND if you buy one, you get one 50% OFF ! Same at Ulta but it's a tiny bit pricier : 9,99 USD.
(I'm actually really jealous ... It's way cheaper in the States !!! :( )
• In the end ?
It's a good lipstick, pleasant to wear, which will probably make happy the one who's looking for a shine/plumping aspect. It does have some negative points, as many lipsticks do, but about the value for money, I think that it's very satisfying. The color is beautiful, the use pleasant, the taste and scent are very nice, and the final look very pretty, as long as you are careful about two or three things. As for me, I'm very happy with it !
