BENEFIT's BB cream "Big Easy" : is it really "Bigger than BB" ?

Hey loves ! How are you doing ?

Today, we talk about a BB cream with the Big Easy from Benefit !

Last year, I bought this BB cream, and I wore it since then, so during both summer and winter. Here's what I think about it !

What the brand says :

"BIGGER than BB! Why? Two reasons. First, big easy contains ingredients known to help balance moisture & control oil. Second, the cushiony liquid-to- powder formula melts in like a cream, yet finishes lightweight & velvety like a powder."

I bought it mainly for its SPF 35. Its promise of controlling oil was a bonus to me, since I have a combination skin.

It first appears as a cream, but once applied, it evolves into a powder on the skin.

Its good points :

• A great sun protection.

The first big asset of the Big Easy, is indeed its sun protection : it saves time to have a SPF 35 directly into our make up, rather than having to find a cream to apply first, with a texture that won't bother the make up's application, etc. So it's very useful to avoid ending up all wrinked in ten years ! No matter how much I went out last summer, and exposed my face to the sun, I haven't tanned which is important.
Even more since the shade 03 Light/Medium is already darker - or should I say golder - than my skin, which helps me balancing the difference neck/face during summer. In winter, by applying it lightly, it's also working. It even makes me look a bit less white.

• A natural look for normal, flawless skins.

The product's look will be different based on your skin's type. If you have no pimples, nor microkystes, in other words : if your skin's smooth, then the result will be naturalbeautifully velvety.

• Coverage light to medium, (redness).

It allows you yo unify your skin tone, to cover the little rednesses, and small imperfections. Of course, since it's a BB cream, don't expect an amazing coverage, but if you want to lightly correct your skin tone, then you might like it.

• Few product is enough.

No need to empty the bottle in one month, some drops are more than enough to cover face and neck. In fact, it's even advised not to apply too much ! (See beneath.)

Its bad points :

• Difficult to apply.

I had a lot of troubles to get how to apply the product.

→ With a brush : impossible, the texture is too thick, the brush can't apply the cream properly and smoothly, it leaves lines, makes the product move and so you get marks. In other words : horrible !
→ With the fingers : the result isn't smooth, it leaves marks.

You get the best result by using a sponge. This being said, be careful that it's not too wet when you use it, or else, once again, it'll leave marks.
→ Trick : if you just got it wet, press it inside a tissue, or, wet it the night before.

My advice would be to not put a lot of product on : it'll quickly leave a "thick" effect and will be obvious on the skin. You really have to apply it in thin layer.

• A matifying promise that knows some limits.

When I bought it, I was also seduced by the matifying action of the Big Easy, because during summer, you get easily shiny. But to be honest, especially if you have an oily skin to begin with, it won't be enough, you'll have to put a powder.

• A powdery finish which reveals the irregularities and imperfections of the skin, as well as the dry spots.

Ok so there, we get to THE point I want to talk about. Until now, I've always prefered liquid foundations. I never bought a powder foundation, and I wasn't such a fan of the result. But I had heard so much about the Big Easy and the reviews won me over. Then, when I swatched it on my wrist, I thought that its finish was pretty.

The problem is that this finish, on a skin without imperfections, looks really pretty, but if you have pimples or white heads, it shows them even more under the sun ! You can see the skin irregularities, so it reveals the dilated pores.
If you have dry skin, it will be the same : the dry spots will appear like brown marks on your skin ... In short : it's not a nice result.

Its price :

$38 on the website
